The Reality Of SEO Today

Alice_In_WonderlandI recommend you take a minute and read this post “Setting Realistic SEO Expectations” at High Rankings. This post discusses the reality of SEO today carefully revealing how so much has changed in the past few years.

SEO has always been a moving target and always will be; what worked yesterday may not work today; what works today may not work tomorrow.

I especially liked the challange to write real original content. How many “me too” banal articles can you stomach anyway. So much writing is like the articles in those magazines on airplanes. Technically accurate but booooooring. Possibly informative but often a suitable raplacement for sleeping pills. At least they don’t have delitorious side effects; except to the people who write them. Except for the people who put them on web pages.

Say what you really think for crying out loud.

There is more and more competition and more sites are better at SEO so getting ranked is more difficult. Getting ranked may not even be the best solution. Compared to targeting around a real business plan just ranking leaves a lot to be desired.

It may be a key to why High Rankings is so respected in pointing out it is up to the SEO consultant or company to tell the prospective buyer that what they think they need may not be the best solution that will get them the real results in improving their business that they actually need.
