Because 70% of new web traffic comes from searches you get the most results being on page one of Google.

If you focus in offline advertising you may use the yellow pages or local newspaper advertising, the problem is you never know how well it is working and if you do much of it the costs really add up. Online you can use adwords – where the ads show up on the right side of search results-  many people do, but adwords can easily cost thousands of dollars a month, not only that research shows only 30% of people will ever click an adwords paid advertisment.
