Youtube is now working to make videos easier to find at Youtube.

“On Wednesday, YouTube said that users can opt-in to an experimental service called "YouTube Topics on Search," an attempt to meld keyword queries with a topic-oriented directory.

"Put simply, we try to identify topics on YouTube and associate videos with them," explained YouTube software engineer Palash Nandy and UX designer Elizabeth Windram in a blog post. "We use many different sources to find these topics, including frequently used uploader keywords, common search queries, playlist names, and even sources outside of YouTube such as Wikipedia articles."

Have some attractive banners or anchor text linking back to your main site.

Targeting interests with content is a solid and proven way to attract people to any site. This is about Traffic AND SEO.

The better your sense of who your customers are and what they are like as people the more likely you will provide the right content. Having this familiarity with your customers will help you to better select the keywords to target because you will have a better idea of what they search for. You could even poll them or take a look at some of your best converting keyword phrases.

You may have a nice set of related keywords at the the end of your research and then you will want to consider which can work together on one site and which may group together well enough to make a whole new site. Topical pages can work well for your SEO there.

It is important to add new videos daily or nearly every day so the spiders are crawling all over your site. They do favor frequent updates,

Besides anchor links and or banner links you may want to add an Aweber name capture so you can build a related email mailing list. It is best with this type of site to not directly offer to sell anything. Then you will find it easier to build links on social media sites. If you must offer anything, be very low key about it.

If you want some more detailed How To on building a video blog
Take a look at the Profitable Traffic Video Blogging System

A great mini-net system like this drives targeted traffic and gives quality relevant links.

Youtube in particular and most video sites in general are very social. It is one thing to put up a few videos or even many videos in the hopes to get traffic and search engine placement, but to overlook how many connections can be built at the video sites is short-sighted.

There is a lot to be gained besides Video SEO

Some people live and die by their video pages and much like bloggers are often enthusiastic about promoting other video channels. In addition there is a growing number of useful promotional tools being built into the video hosting sites. YouTube has Post Bullitin, friending, subscribing and can be connected to Facebook and Twitter.

If you can manage to get really a lot of views you can be like some people making over $100K a year just from the Google ads that appear on the videos. Of course we are talking millions of views a year for that result.

One True Media and Animoto make it easy to just upload some photos and make a video in minutes.

To me SEO is about providing targeted traffic with content that can easily be found online, at my site or elsewhere.

Getting youtube videos to fit on your blog now that the minimum width of Videos on Youtube is 640 pixels needs to be done since they just didn’t fit into my blog right. My post column width is 555 pixels and changing it to 640 just would not look right to me. I wanted this link building video to fit. When working on video seo everything needs to look good and work.

Chopping off the width pixels then changing the height pixels so the video looks correct takes a little math.

Shooting for 550 pixel width I divided 640 into 550 and got .859375 then took multiplied the height by .859 and got 330.715 so I changed the pixels in the embed code from YouTube to 550 x 330 witch works just fine.

NOTE: there are 2 places in the embed code where the size of the video is stated, you must change both. I also unclick the show related videos checkbox when I grab the videos, I think it looks better on my blog that way.

so to review for the pop quiz that will happen when you try this and it pops up right when you save the page that is 640/550=.859*385=330

or original width divided by width I want to get percentage of difference then multiply that result times the original height to get the height it needs to be to keep the same proportions as the original.
