Link Spam means a building a bunch of links thrown around to all kinds of places that are not relevant to what Google sees when it looks at your website. This can be blog farms, some forum posts, profile links, and pligg site link spamming.

That is all you get from many SEO services out there. You know, the ones cold calling you and they won’t get off the phone. They often want an iron clad contract too. Of course its cheap, it takes less work to flip the switch on some automated software than to think through what a business and web site really need.

I find the most relevant words the buyers type then get you placed for those terms with quality content that lasts, individualized to your site and your business and your goals.

Google is getting better and better at knowing what link spam is.
Mostly they just ignore the links which means you pay for no results. Sometimes they have been known to take sites with lots of link spam right out of all search results.

I like this site. It offers a chance for a company to post many different types of documents and make them highly visible online. The way pages can be flipped and the use of the term Library for where you put your stuff makes it all easy to navigate and use. That is very important. Issuu.com

I can add stuff on Issuu to my Library or upload stuff. I see full product catalogs and magazines. There are some interesting publications I would probably never have found anywhere else.

One think I do like a lot as well is I can add a link which is dofollow to every publication I add and it will show in the view window. I have been getting good results for myself and my clients at DocStoc and Scribd, which means views there by people and I have links in there too. So I will be adding more to Issuu as well.

I always like to build links at places which can send traffic also.

Selling the click means getting someone from the search engine results pages (SERPS) to click on your site instead of any of the others.

You can quickly test this for yourself. Go search nearly any term and read the titles and descriptions showing in the results. Some yell click me and some make you wonder Huh? Try a couple of them to get ides on what might work better for your site.

In most, but not all, cases the Meta description you have on your site is what will be shown in the SERPS. It is the 2 lines right below the Title, which is the same as your page title at your site.

The maximum number of characters shown is 160 and if you use any more than that you will see your description cut short and ended with …

You want to be descriptive and encourage the searcher to come to your site. Sell the click to him.

Increase Site Traffic with Article eBooks

You can increase your site traffic by taking articles you have written, turning them into ebooks and uploading them to 2 well trafficed free ebook sites.

The first one is Free eBooks which is ranked 14,759 in alexa and showing 231,914 visitors in June 2010. The traffic graph at Compete.com is showing a decidedly upward trend too.

The second site is Get Free eBooks it is showing 26,126 at Alexa and 92K visitors and up42% in traffic.

You want to make your article, or better a few articles into a pdf. The easiest way to do that is with the CuteFTP writer which is free and installs as a printer driver so when you print any text or document you can easily made a pdf file.

When I do this I use ebooks that have not only links to my sites but I add affiliate links in the context of what the niche is if its one of my sites. For most of my clients I am doing articles already or posting their articles in article directories so the content is at hand.

Targeted Website Traffic with Documents

Targeted website traffic and links can be gained form documants you already have.

Getting targeted website traffic is really more important than anything. It is entirely possible to get thousands of poorly targeted website visitors and have every one of them click the back button. This can happen, I know, I have done it. It was not that the website was bad, it may or may not be. Its not that they were all stupid, th may or may not be. It is just that those people are not interested in what that site is about at that time.

My idea about getting targeted traffic is to situate some type of content somewhere people who are interested in that will find it.

2 places to put content are Scribd.com and Docstoc.com . When I check my account there I see hundreds of people and in some cases thousands of people have read these documents. I do not track the clicks and probably should but I just don’t have time to do everything I should do. I feel for the few minutes it takes me the hundreds of reads are fine. I see one that was up for a month as of today has 83 reads at Scribd and 109 at Docstoc.

The articles written for article directories are fine to use. Take them as word .doc or make them into .pdf files. One advantage over some article directories is I can put my links in context. The documents are indexed.

SEO means traffic and targeted website traffic comes from people finding and reading my content. Scribd shows 4.7 million unique visitors for June 2010 and 6.7 million total visitors, it is 233 in Alexa. Docstoc is showing 2.9 million uniques and 3.6 total visitors for the same June 2010 and is 701 at Alexa.

Be thinking people and traffic when looking for places to build links.

Half the traffic to ecomerce websites comes from SEO according to a poll done by Internet Retailer magazine. If you need more proof that that, go back to college and get more confused, OK?

So if SEO doubled your traffic you would probably make more money right? It wold help if the people doing the SEO were really good at picking the best keywords to go after. Maybe that smart kid down the block who made your site would know.

Sorry for the cynicism but as a person who has started a business with zero capital that went to 5 million a year in sales I know how going by the book would have made that never happen. So I know the bad rap SEO gets is due to idiots and scammers and I can only go so far proving the value of SEO without realizing it is not worth the effort. If a person does not understand when people are looking for what you offer you have a great chance of making them a loyal customer if you can be in front of them while they are searching then what else can be said?

I actually am asking this question. Somebody has to. Why? Because there are people who come up in the search engine for the search “untitled document” as the title of their home page who have the receptionist tell me they know they are not buying any advertising.

Sorry Charlie. SEO is for tunas that taste good not tunas with good taste. Or what about the hotel that is on pages 2-4 for keyword phrases that exactly describe where they are and what they do. These terms are getting 90,000 searches a month. They get enough business by being in expedia, and expedia is free, they say. In America you have the right to be stupid. Its a free country.

Getting targeted website traffic is what SEO is all about. Be there when they are looking. Be a findable result in the search engine when people are looking for what you offer. That is how to get site traffic. It is free website traffic. You don”t have to continue to buy website traffic.

To build your site with the best SEO incorporate SEO into the building of the site. First pick a good set of keywords. If possible choose a keyword domain name. Though it is actually as good or better to have a memorable or descriptive domain name.

Never shoot for one keyword. Use groups of keywords. When a website is built around a theme it will have good ranking. Taking a keyword phrase as an idea and include similar keywords and then write in a natural way. LSI is natural language. The recent Google update suggests very much Google is giving greater weight to themed LSI related content.

One way to see what Google considers natural language is to take a few similar main keywords and put them in Google Sets . The result given are words that connect in Google to the terms you entered. Write with these terms. Just like in school, make a sentence using these words. This will help your site be seen well for the natural theme of what your site is about.

Now of course I have assumed your content is interesting and useful. Think of problems people have. Try to offer solutions to those problems. Or be entertaining. Everybody gets bored, just look how popular entertaining sites are.

If you already have the site build there is nothing to stop you from adding pages or posts built around the good keywords.

You can make your links more targeted by looking to place them where people who are interested in what you offer can find them in your writing. Guest Blogging, really thoughtful long blog comments, targeted forums where people talk about what you do. Articles in the better article directories. Good thought provoking writing from the heart that draws their interest then deliberately leave enough still to be learned they click.

The descriptions that show up in the search engines are an important place to look. Does the writing there “sell the click” does it draw the interest of the person who made that search? A well written description can do a lot for you.

Blogging personalizes your site and if you use good for you keywords in the title and content of your posts and pages you will get better search engine results. Search engines mostly index text so writing as much as you can is always an improvement.

You can increase your website traffic by picking the best keywords.

Selecting keywords can be a science and an art. The better you understand your market the better keywords you will recognize. When you know what problems the people in your market are looking to solve you will pick better keywords. Most niches have thousands of keywords and those are just the tip of the iceberg.
